How does Reiki work?
Energy follows intention. With the intention to serve the greatest and highest good, the Reiki practitioner delivers a high-vibration, healing energy through his or her hands to a person who is open to receiving this energy. When the energy is delivered, the recipient's
In-person Reiki is provided directly to a person ("recipient") who is seated or lying down. The Reiki practitioner holds their hands just above the recipient's body or may lightly touch the recipient starting at the head and progressing to the feet. The recipient remains fully clothed and chooses whether or not to be touched by the practitioner. The practitioner will not touch a recipient's private areas.
Distance Reiki is provided to a person who is not in the same location as the practitioner. During a distance Reiki session, the recipient may be lying down, seated, relaxing, sleeping, or otherwise quiet. Reiki can be sent when the recipient is active, such as attending a meeting, working, caring for another, or engaging in other life activities and still be effective
How long does the session last? How many sessions do I need?
A typical Reiki session lasts from 30 minutes to an hour.
You may decide how many sessions you need and how frequently. A common practice is to start with one or 2 sessions a week, then have a monthly "tune-up" session.
Can Reiki be done when I live in another city?
Yes, and this is called Distance Reiki. It can be just as effective as receiving a Reiki session in person. In a Distance Reiki session, you can be in the comfort of your own home, take a few minutes in a quiet place at work to receive the healing energy, or even have Reiki provided during a stressful experience, such as a dentist appointment. (My dentist said I was one of his most calm root-canal patients. I thought, "Thanks to Reiki!")
Is Reiki something I can do for myself?
Yes, and we would love to teach you how. In the Reiki Level 1 class, the first person you are taught to bring comfort, balance, and healing to is yourself. All of our Reiki classes are done online through Zoom. Be sure to join our email list to get notifications of upcoming Reiki classes or contact us about a 1-on-1 training.
I am a Christian, and I am not sure about it.
Reiki is not a religion. It is a spiritual practice much like prayer, communion, meditative reading of the Bible, and other methods for connecting to God as the "greatest and highest Good."
I say, "Reiki is a prayer for peace and comfort that I do."
I am undergoing treatment for a medical/mental health illness. Is Reiki okay to have?
Yes. Reiki is safe to have as a complementary or integrative treatment to medical care. Reiki should not be used as an alternative to medical/mental health care you are receiving. Reiki is not a cure for any ailments or condition you are experiencing. Please consult with your doctor if you have any concerns.
